A new exhibition!
We are creating a new and content-rich main exhibition and museum experience that places Kongsberg Silver Works at the center.
The new exhibition will open in June 2027.
The exhibition tells the story of 335 years of mining in Kongsberg, focusing on the human ingenuity and technological progress that shaped the surroundings and its legacy.
The museum has a unique collection of objects that will be displayed in a completely new way in the new exhibition.
The venue for it all is the historic Melting Hut, where the silver was melted between 1844 and 1922.
The entire museum; the Smeltehytta,
will close for renovation
from August 1, 2026.
The Mint Exhibition
will close on May 1, 2026.
The museum will open in June 2027 with a new main exhibition, in addition to the existing industrial history exhibition, the Geolab and the museum shop.
The museum will create several new exhibitions in the coming years, and will start planning a completely new ski exhibition as early as 2026.
